German Model United Nations 2005 (GerMUN)
|
The German Model United Nations 2005 was held January 24.-28.
at the Academy for Information and Communication of the Federal
Armed Forces (AIK) in Straußberg near Berlin. About 150 students
from highschools from all over Germany participated at this event.
This year's model was generously organized by Thomas Weiler and
the Universities of Bonn and Trier and the AIK has once again graciously
agreed to host this event, as it did in 1999, 2001, and 2003.
During Wednesday afternoon break
the delegations had the opportunity to
visit Embassies and the German Ministry of Foreign Affiars
in Berlin.
The NMUN Task Group at the Ludwigs-Maximilians-University took an active part
in the model by sending off a total of 22 students to the simulation.
17 of them were participating as delegates of the below listed countries. During
the preperation courses they had to produce a detailled position paper (containing
their country's policy towards the discussed topics)
and a generic profile of their assigned countries.
The other 5 were assigned chairs of the Security Council and the General Assembly Plenary
and were in charge of presiding the committee's formal sessions.
Additionally they had to publish background guides before
the simulation, which had to be distributed to all participating delegates for preperation purposes.
